Editing Metadata

When metadata is applied to an asset upon upload, all of the metadata entered in the Apply Metadata form is embedded into the asset file (like XMP metadata). This means the metadata travels with the asset when downloaded and shared to connecting systems.

If the metadata is edited. the only metadata fields that get updated to the XMP are:

•IP Rights
•CLC
•Content Owner
•Physical ID
•SKU number
•LOA (Line of Affiliation)

Follow these steps

 1. Select the asset(s)

2. Hit the edit metadata button.

For a single asset, select the asset to edit then click the edit metadata button at the top of the screen. You can also edit the metadata on the asset detail page. The button on the asset detail page is located in the metadata tabs at the bottom of the page to the far right.

To edit metadata on multiple assets, you can add them to the cart or use the search results page. Just select the assets and click edit metadata.

3. Edit the necessary fields.
If editing multiple assets:
The first screen of the metadata form fields will appear blank if the assets have different metadata applied to them. These fields will be pointed out with red text.
Your edits here will apply to all of the assets.
‐Clicking Append adds new metadata to the already existing metadata on all of these assets.
Clicking Save REPLACES the existing metadata.
4. Click Save/Append

APPEND adds the new metadata to the existing.

SAVE replaces the existing metadata with the new.

‐WARNING Clicking SAVE will remove all previous metadata and replace it with the new metadata from this screen.
