Folder templates make future uploading easier. Any metadata you apply to the folder template will be automatically applied to ALL assets uploaded into that folder.
All lowest level folders will need a folder template applied to it. This is needed because it will apply the brand and its prefix, location of the asset, category, lifecycle coordinator, content owner, keywords, as well as other tags. (This is a best practice.)
Let’s create a template of metadata that applies to all assets within a folder.
Follow these steps
You can use Classic View to do this. |
1. Click on Region folder

2. Select the parent folder in the left navigation that has the folder that you want to apply the template to.
All the folders in that parent folder should show in your preview pane to the right.

3. Right click on the folder that you want to apply the template to.
Do this in the preview pane to the right.

4. Select “Apply Metadata Template” from the pop up.

5. Enter a name for the template.
Folder templates are required to be named the same as the folder it is on and must be lower case, separated by hyphens , have no special characters and must end with the word instance.

6. Select “affiliate-base-template” from the list

7. Click Next

8. Complete the Apply Metadata Template form as follows:
- Tags: Enter tags ONLY if they will apply to all assets.
- Some tags are required for folders like Brand {if it’s a brand folder}, Category, Region (which is the region or market where the asset is uploaded to), Sub Category and Sub-sub category, if applicable.
- Keywords: Enter keywords ONLY if they will apply to all assets in this folder. These keywords will automatically fill the keywords field for each asset. Use high level keywords that apply to ALL assets in this folder.
- Content Owner: Enter the native id or network ID of the person(s) that will own the content in this folder. You can add multiple content owners. If there are multiple content owners, separate them by semicolon and not a space. If there aren’t any particular “content owners” for a whole folder, you can leave this blank on the template and fill it out during the asset upload workflow. If you want to search by content owner in BrandNext Touch view, remember to search by their native ID if they have left the company to bring up results in touch view.
- Lifecycle Coordinator: Enter the CLC group name, the native or Network ID of the CLC (if there is only one).
- Brand Prefix (This is required for brand folders): Enter a brand prefix that will be added to all assets in the folder. There is no need to put the underscore after the prefix that shows in the filenames.
- If the folder is an Amway Business folder or a Category Support folder, the category code goes in the Brand Prefix field

9. Click Next

10. Click finish.
The metadata template is now applied to the folder.
- click OK to confirm the creation of the template.
- You will see it listed in the Metadata Template Instance Column next to the page in the preview pane.
